Hogs To Riches

John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy rode their way to a smash opening at the US Box Office this weekend, bringing in over $38 million dollars. "Zodiac" came a very distant second with $13 million while former #1 champ "Ghost Rider" slipped to #3 with $11.5 million, just $5 million shy of joining the century mark club. "Bridge To Terabithia" and "The Number 23" followed respecitvely. "Black Snake Moan" opened poorly with just $4 million over the weekend, $6 million less than Craig Brewer's previous film "Hustle & Flow". That's Justin Timberlake's 3rd straight release to open to dismal results. Now, please somebody NOT cast him in a movie!

Who You Gonna Call? Ghost Rider Again!

#1 at the box office for a 2nd straight weekend was Nicolas Cage's "Ghost Rider" taking in over $19 million. Virginia Madsen proved better with Jim Carrey as "The Number 23" made $15 to fall in second place followed by "Bridge To Terabithia" with $13+ million. "Reno 911" and "Norbit" (over $73 million in the bank for that one!) closed out the Top 5 for the weekend.

I don't get the appeal but Nicolas Cage broke his curse! After duds like The Weather Man and The Wicker Man - he scored a #1 hit with Ghost Rider this weekend taking in more than $44 million in 3 days. Bridge To Terabithia was 2nd with $22 million while Eddie Murphy's potential Oscar-win spoiler Norbit came in 3rd with an unexplicable $16 million.
