First Felicity, then Alias and now Lost!
Every foray into scripted series for the talented powerhouse has felt a severe hit in the ratings after a solid first season.
Felicity seemed to go downhill after the infamous "new-do" for star Keri Russell. The "gunshot at the party" winter finale seemed like the final nail in the show's creative coffin.
Alias started a powerful series with mystery and intrigue. But after SD6 became obsolete and Sydney woke up 2 years later - the thrill was gone.
Now Lost, only in its 3rd season is dying to recapture the fantastic dynamics that once existed in season one. While season 2 was average, 3 has been painfully ignorant to the majority of the cast we have grown to love.
Which brings me to the question, what is it with every JJ Abrams show (I'm exlcuding What About Brian from the list because it seems to be getting dare I say better with time?) unable to stand the test of time. Does the overhype kill the series? Are his shows too clever for his own good? Or is it that the shows aren't meant to last forever?
I know Lost is only supposed to last another season or so. But right now, I'm too frustrated with it. Just seeing a glimpse of Sun or Hurley is more enjoyable than an entire episode of Jack and the Others.
The payoff on Felicity and Alias were barely average. I hope Abrams and team can learn from that and bring Lost back to form.

Can JJ Abrams ever create a long-running hit series?
